Anya Taylor-Joy took a riskier approach than her usual red carpet look for the 2021 CFDA Awards.
The “Queen’s Gambit” actress wore an Oscar de la Renta purple blazer mini dress with a peplum silhouette and chunky belt to the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York on Wednesday night, where she took home the Face of the Year award.
Her matching Gigi Burris hat and gloves jumped against the otherwise monochrome look. The hat included a black veil which added a classic touch to the look. Taylor-Joy added an oversized collar and sheer tights.
Taylor-Joy perfectly matched her dress to her shoes. She wore satin pumps, covered in a dark purple color. Her pointy heels reached about 4 inches in height thanks to their thin stiletto heel.
Emily Blunt hosted the evening and presented the American Womenswear and American Menswear Designer of the Year awards to Christopher John Rogers and Emily Bode-Aujla for Bode, respectively.
Although Brother Vellies designer Aurora James lost to Telfar in the Accessories Designer category on Wednesday, she received the Founder’s Award for her efforts with the 15 Percent Pledge.
Meanwhile, Edvin Thompson for Theophilio received the Emerging American Designer of the Year award and was presented by model and “Squid Game” star HoYeon Jung.
