Last Wednesday, the online vintage retailer, Pretty Sparkle hosted a party to celebrate their first pop-up â90’s Foreverâ store in Nolita. The nostalgic ’90s store is occupied by hundreds of rare vintage items from the’ 90s, including embellished denim jackets, fanny packs, Lisa Frank lunch boxes, Beavis & Butthead slippers, movie posters, dolls, lava lamps and brightly colored dresses.
Created by stylist and artist Amanda Dolan, Spark Pretty is the place to be for all things from decades past. Long-time collector and archivist Dolan began selling hard-to-find clothing and accessories from the 80s and 90s online. She has seen great demand from all over the world. Together with her business partner and former Betsey Johnson colleague Meagan Colby, they began exhibiting at the Manhattan Vintage Show, where Vogue named them as one of the go-to sellers. This year, they’ve provided a wardrobe for âAmerican Psychoâ on Broadway, âThe Goldbergsâ on TV, the upcoming Netflix series âGLOWâ and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
âAfter headlining the Manhattan Vintage Show earlier this year with our ’90s Forever exhibit, we knew we were on to something,â Dolan says of the experience. .
