Vintage family heirlooms stolen from a local warehouse

Prince George RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for some recently stolen heirlooms from a local warehouse.

RCMP RCMP Corporal Jennifer Cooper said police received the report of a break-in on September 5 after one of the storage lockers was unlocked and several items inside were stolen.

“The break-in occurred in the early afternoon of September 4, 2021. We ask the public to keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell items that match these descriptions as we would like to return them to their rightful owner. . Some items have great sentimental value for the family, ”Cooper said.

Some of the missing items include:

  • Collection of Canadian Mint coins between 1962 and 1964
  • Several Canadian bills of $ 1.00 and $ 2.00
  • A pearl necklace
  • Service medals in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1934 to 1945
  • Some identity documents and old check books

Cooper says to avoid similar thefts, residents should regularly check their storage lockers.

“Also, invest in a good quality lock that is harder to break. Some of the older padlock style or ones that are more designed for an indoor locker space like a school or gymnasium are far too easy to cut for people with bolt cutters, ”she added.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP.
